The Katavetita Karawa: Auspicious 100-Year-Olds of Krabi
The Katavetita Karawa: Auspicious 100-Year-Olds of Krabi
The project has been running continuously for four consecutive years.
The 'Katavetita Karawa: Auspicious 100-Year-Olds of Krabi' project enters its 4th year. In 2025, we visited seniors across every district, providing 5,000 THB cash grants, essential supplies, and wheelchairs. Working with local authorities, health volunteers, and hospitals, we ensure comprehensive health guidance and holistic care for their wellbeing.
Krabi province has more than 169 centenarians (ages 100 and above).
Thailand is transitioning into a complete aging society, driven by declining birth rates and increased life expectancy. This shift, coupled with economic volatility and changing family structures, has left many seniors neglected or living in isolation. Dependent on minimal government allowances and often battling chronic illnesses or limited mobility, many feel discouraged. Our mission is to restore their hope and ensure they are no longer left behind.
Collaboration from Various Agencies
Furthermore, our network partners, including the Krabi Provincial Red Cross Chapter, the Provincial Office of Social Development and Human Security, and local hospitals, contributed essential supplies and equipment. This collective support ensures that seniors who once felt isolated now feel the warmth of family and community. Khao Phanom District has the highest concentration of centenarians with 9 individuals, including Mrs. Pen Chanakul, who at 116 years old, is the oldest resident in the province.
Seeing seniors rediscover their smiles and joy through our visits instills a sense of gratitude in the younger generation of Krabi. It serves as an inspiration for Thai society to recognize the profound value of our elders.
Enhancing the Quality of Life for the Elderly
Beyond improving lives, this project stands as a testament to the power of gratitude. By uniting all sectors, we are creating a sustainable culture of care that honors our elders. We are proud to be a model for Krabi and beyond, inspiring other regions to cherish the wisdom and contributions of their senior citizens.
