Restoring Dignity and Providing a Stable Home
Many Families Facing Severe Hardships
In Thai society, there are still numerous families facing complex and overlapping hardships. This includes individuals with disabilities who lack essential assistive equipment for daily living, bedridden patients, and Parkinson's disease patients who require specialized care, as well as families who have lost their homes due to debt issues.
The Story of 'Baan Pun Sook'
This is the case of Mrs. Kanlaya Phetpraphan, aged 100 years and 7 months, who lives with her granddaughter, Mrs. Prapassorn Samraorat, in a family of 4. Their old house was foreclosed on under a loan agreement, leaving them without a permanent place to live. Although they hold the title deed to a plot of land, they lacked the financial capital required for construction.
The granddaughter works as an itinerant snack vendor and takes on general odd jobs, while her husband is visually impaired and works as a massage therapist. Both earn unstable incomes, creating a cycle of overlapping hardships that this family must endure.
Constructing a stable residence for Mrs. Kanlaya's family to restore their dignity and hope.
Providing wheelchairs to individuals with disabilities and distributing rice to bedridden and Parkinson's patients to alleviate their burdens.
The Krabi Provincial Red Cross Chapter contributed essential household supplies and additional financial assistance.
Baan Pun Sook
A new house is not just a place to live, but it represents the return of hope and dignity to the family. Mrs. Kanlaya and her family no longer have to depend on others or feel like a burden to society, as they now possess a stable, warm, and permanent home.
"The 'Baan Pun Sook' project proves that when society joins hands—including the private sector, government agencies, and the military—we can truly transform people's lives for the better. It does not merely provide a shelter, but also passes on love, compassion, and the opportunity for a quality life."
